With the help of over 50 volunteers, largely members of the Arizona Burmese Community, we were able to load the shipping container with medical supplies and equipment (estimate values over US$400,000) in under five hours. This would not have been possible were it not for the excellent turnout. We are now a step closer to achieving our ultimate goal of distributing the medical supplies and equipment to needy hospitals, healthcare facilities and clinics throughout the Delta region and MBRO thanks all those who have helped us get this far. The container is set to sail on September 19th and is expected to arrive at Yangon Port by the end of October.

MBRO and Project C.U.R.E. have in hand the necessary documentation to ship to Myanmar a 40 foot container of medical supplies and equipment for the victims of Cyclone Nargis.Volunteers from the Burmese community in Arizona will be loading this container with medical supplies and equipment on 13 September 2008 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon at the Project C.U.R.E. warehouse in Tempe. The container will then be shipped to Yangon, where MBRO’s counterpart Myanmar Geosciences Society (MGS) will receive it and assume responsibility for distributing the medical supplies and equipment. The container is expected to arrive at Yangon port by end-October. MBRO sincerely thanks all donors and supporters for making this delivery possible.

MBRO and Project C.U.R.E. finalize the list of medical supplies and equipment to be shipped to Yangon. The proforma invoice required for the import permit will be sent to Myanmar Geoscieces Society (MGS) soon. Once MGS secures the import permit, MBRO will announce the date the medical supplies and equipment will be loaded into the container. An event organized by MBRO with the assistance and participation of the Arizona Burmese Community, the loading of the container will take place at the Project C.U.R.E. warehouse in Tempe, Arizona. We invite you, our friends and supporters, to participate in this event. Our heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to Project Irrawaddy Delta Bound. (Note: the required funding for the project (USD16,500) was previously remitted to Project C.U.R.E.)

MBRO has raised USD13,000 for a shipment of medical supplies and equipment for the victims of Cyclone Nargis. We require an additional USD3,500 to complete the shipment. As soon as we receive the remaining USD3500, we will remit the funds to Project C.U.R.E. and proceed to load the container for shipment. MBRO thanks you for your support and generosity and we will be keep you posted of our progress in completing the shipment. Please continue to spread the word to others who may have an interest in supporting MBRO to help the victims of Cyclone Nargis.

MBRO receives official confirmation from Project C.U.R.E. to provide support and assistance in the transportation of a 40 foot container of medical supplies valued at USD400,000 to Yangon, Myanmar. MBRO is required to raise USD16,500 for the preparation and loading of the container, which will take place at the Project C.U.R.E warehouse located in Tempe, Arizona. The Myanmar Geoscience Society (MGS) is the consignee. MGS will administer and manage the distribution of the medical supplies. More detailed information about distribution to hospitals, healthcare centers and clinics is forthcoming. The container will be loaded and shipped when we reach the fundraising target of USD16,500. June 11, 2008 - Blankets, Clothes Delivery to A Mar Ywa village

MBRO delivers 1000 blankets, 500 longyis and 500 htamains to FFSS (an MBRO associate) in Yangon. The items will be distributed in A Mar Ywa village, which is near Bogalay town, just beyond Main Ma Hla Gyun village. The residents of A Mar Ywa village have received no assistance since Cyclone Nargis struck. We have been informed that survivors urgently require pots, plates, cups, water jugs, water bottles and containers. Body bags, gloves, body covers and boiler suits are also needed to search for and recover bodies. In addition, a school (Ks300,000,000 or USD30,000 estimated cost) is already under construction at Kyauk Ka Latt village near Haing Gyi Gyun.

June 9, 2008 - FFSS Field Report

An MBRO associate, Free Funeral Services Society (FFSS), travels to KunGyanKone area to cremate 17 victims found in the paddy fields. The FFSS team is to visit the DeDaye area next. Following a request from FFSS, MBRO’s team in Yangon will purchase and deliver 500 longyis, 500 htamains and 1000 blankets to FFSS. We expect the items to be delivered to FFSS in the next day or two.
